A weird one here… I have just installed win 8 on top of 7 (upgrade) and now Avast GUI will not elevate itself on start, the UAC pops up.
Also it is no longer recognised by the security centre
I did a full clean install
I reset the WBEM folder
Yet this still happens… Any thoughts ?
AIS 64bit latest version… Windows 8 … No other security software etc…

Here’s what I would do…
As the upgrade sometimes doesn’t work well, I would run a clean install of W8.

Did you turn UAC all the way down, so it will never notify you?
GUI as in the tray icon, a UAC appeared for that
I can live with UAC off and ignoring security centre
OK just taken a screen capture

Did you check the information re the publisher’s certificate on UAC pop-up? Noted that there is a hyperlink posted on the screenshot.
Certificate OK?
Yep the cert is OK
Edit : Security centre is now OK

Why on earth? :o It’s always a total mess… even if there isn’t any problems. It should be a clean install.

You need to re-read the first post as a clean install was also performed.

Yes. I have read it, but essexboy most likely meant that he did a clean install of Avast 8… and Windows 8 is still on top of the Windows 7.
