Avast is not starting/loading up automatically at startup. My concern is that I may download an infected email before realizing that Avast is ‘not’ running!! I have to start it manually.
I see no option within Avast that allows one to choose whether or not Avast is to start automatically upon computer reboot.
Is there a way to configure Avast to start automatically upon reboot???
I’m running a Pentium 4 CPU, 3.0 GHZ, 1 GB RAM, Windows XP Prof Svc Pack 2, Zone Alarm Pro 6.0.667, Avast 4.6 Pro, (Norton Internet Security was Removed prior to loading Avast/Zone Alarm),
First, are you sure that avast! is not running? Do you see the “a” icon in the systray? If not, you can check in the Settings page if the icon is not dissabled(Settings>Appearance) , because there are many cases when the users don’t see the icon and thinks that avast! is not running
If you are sure that avast! is not running you can enable the resident protection from the Simple User Interface, and usually when you enable the resident protection from the interface, it is started automatically on the next system start.
In the end if nothing helps you can try to repair avast! from Add/Remove programs>avast! Antivirus>Repair
Even manually started, avast will work with your email, that could be downloaded withour problem.
But, how are you starting avast?
To disable the automatic starting on reboot, you must 1) know enough what you did because the default action - automatically start - is not that easy disabled. 2) you don’t have avast! pretty installed in your computer (for instance, you have another antivirus in the same computer).
In fact Avast was running. I determined this by looking at control panel/Seurity/Security center / Virus protection shows ON - Avast is running.
Thanks for your help.
