Avast Not monitored in Security center

I have had this problem before, but it is occurring again. I have tried stopping Security Center and restarting it, I have also tried stopping Avast with the same method. I have started Security Center Manual, which seemed to recognize Avast, then switching it back to Automatic. It’s fine until I have to restart my computer, then it reports I haven’t got any Antivirus. I know I can tick the recommendations to have my antivirus monitored myself. I would like to know if there is a fix or something that causes this please. I have run antivirus checks and have no infections.

Please:

 1. Check system time and date.
 2. Did you have any other antivirus in this computer before? Which one?
 3. How many accounts with administrator rights do you have?

Hi Tech. The time is OK on my computer. At the moment it is 15.47. I did try Antivir but I didn’t like it like Avast so uninstalled it then used my Reg Mechanic to clear left files. I just have admin and myself with admin rights.

Date is more important in this case…

Do you have any Registry key with H+BDEV keyword?
Are you sure Antivir was correctly uninstalled?

The date on my computer is right 28th July 2006 it is regulated so that it is never wrong or the time. How do you find the reg key H+BDEV Can I run a search for it?

I always uninstall either with the programs own installer if it has one or through my control panel. I then delete all left files and search with Reg Mechanic, or JV16 Power Tools for left overs.

Have you checked to see if the Security Centre is running In Services
Start/Control Panel/Admin Tools/Services

Try this…

 1. Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
 2. Find Windows Management Instrumentation, right click mouse on it and from dropdown list choose stop the service
 3. Find folder C:\windows\system32wbem, inside this folder, delete the Repository folder
 4. Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
 5. Find Windows Management Instrumentation, right click mouse on it and from dropdown list choose restart the service
 6. Restart your computer

Then Windows should gets the correct information about your currently installed antivirus and firewall.

Hope this helps

Yes, C:\WINDOWS\regedit.exe
But try what TAP posted before…

Hi Tap.

Thank you for information. I have just tried that, rebooted my computer but it didn’t work. I had to go offline to try it though, it turned off my firwall.

I also tried turning of security center and restarting it after rebooting, it still didn’t work.
What happens to the repository folder now I have deleted it. Will it make any difference. I did make a copy of it just in case though.

Couldn’t find any file called H+BDEV in registry either.
