avast not recognizing my firewall Comodo

just downloaded and installed comodo firewall but avast does not recognize it. Actually says ‘Unable to start. Shield unreachable’.
Any suggestions for getting these two to work together. Yes, I have shutdown and rebooted.
Thanks.

Weabruce welcome to Avast! forum.

What says that ? Could you attach the alert ? I suppose you are not including the AV part of CIS. As you can see in my sig I run Comodo without problems with Avast!.

I cannot copy or print screen to provide visual verification. but yesterday’s avast scan said computer was not protected, firewall not found.
I am running Firefox Mozilla and do have Windows running in the background. Checked Windows and it says that the firewall is activated but obviously it was not.
When going clicking on Firewall tab the small error box shows with the message I indicated above.

Wich Windows do you have XP, Vista, or W 7 ?
Which Avast! and version do you have 6 or 7 Free, Pro, or AIS ?

Is Avast! SECURED when you open UI ?
Is Comodo saying " All system are active and running when you open UI ?

See sceenshots

running WIN7
avast version 7.0.1426

avast window states: ATTENTION
Malwarebytes states: "all systems active & running

Is it Free, Pro, Internet Security ?

I suppose you have Windows Firewall Off is not a good idea to run Comodo Firewall with Windows Firewall together.

Can you repair Avast!. Add and remove programs > Avast! > change > Repair.

Why do you say MBAM. Isn’t it Comodo we are talking about ?

OK after some major problems I am back with the following occurring:

  1. Windows Firewall is turned on.
  2. avast is connected and fully operational.
  3. Comodo was unistalled.

at some point do you think that having COMODO would be better than Windows?

Thank you so much for your assistance.

Well at least you are back full protected.

You still do not say which Avast! you got ¿ Free, Pro, or IS ? and did not find why Avast! alerted " ATTENTION " which most of the time is a shield or section that has been disabled in Avast!.

Windows Firewall is a complete FW which would give you relatively good protection.

FYI when I install Comodo I do this:

  1. Save the installer to the desktop
  2. Disconnect PC from web, net or Internet from router or modem.
  3. Make sure Windows FW is disable.
  4. Disable Avast! shield until computer restart
  5. Install Comodo ( FW & D+ )
  6. Connect PC to the net again
  7. Set my exclutions

Again thanks for your help. I have avast Pro and while you say that WF should work fine I am trying hard to wean myself of all possible windows items as I do not like their persistant updates that come at you all the time. Maybe this week I will use your steps and load COMODO firewall. I did like what I saw in the initial setup.

TY
