Can anyone help me I am running Avast 4.6 on win XP. I downloaded a text file from Shareaza and it had 2 Netsky virus’s in it that Avast did not find during or after downloading .I did scan before opening too. It only found them after I opened the text. Usual message came on the screen telling me and the options I chose Delete to both of them. I then ran a full scan on my system and it found them again. Which I deleted.
I ran the scan again and got the all clear.
This has happened twice before.
Avast not getting rid of them the first time round.
Is anyone else having this problem.
I also have P2P shield up and running and Shareaza is ticked.
yea… when i do a real long scan it gets a virus in this .exe file but when i do a normal one it doesn’t get it i tried to move it to the chest but i can’t. ???

after i had downloaded a p2p file I scanned it before opening it was a notepad document with a serial number on it. Avast did not find the Netsky B until I actually opened it.
It told me to delete the virus which I did. I then ran a full scan and it found it again, and I deleted it for the 2nd time.
In my Avast log 2/04/05 10.38 am Found signs of Win 32 Netsky B found in C:\Documents
Avast log same day and at 10.53 am after i had done the scan it says signs of Win 32 NetskyB found in C:\Documents
This has happened before, Avast just doesnt seem to be able to delete the virus the first time round, and even worse a cannot find it in a document on demand scan
Are you sure your sensitivity is set to High level?
Was the document file inside an archive (.zip, .rar, etc.)? Did you check to scan archives?
I have had problems with a Trojan horse. Avast repeatedly says it cannot find the file no matter what solution I choose. When I run the anti virus program it has found other viruses but not this one. My main program is windows 98 2nd edition, but I also have Office XP files on my computer. My sensitivity level is set to high & I scan archives. I am on broadband. The file name is C:\temp\NCasePackage.exe
& the Malware name is Win32Trojano-803
I have recently completely uninstalled everything, formatted the hard drive & re-installed everything. The problem with this is that I don’t have the disc for XP & have to pay for it to be installed, therefore I am looking for an easier solution.
Scan your computer with avast! in safemode(press F8 during boot). After that make sure you have updated your OS(if you use windows visit windows update).
Also use a 3rd party firewall(if possible other than zonealarm, because of compatibility issues with avast!).
Try cleaning your browsers cache.
If this does not help. Turn systemrestore off, scan your computer with avast, boot it and then scan again. After this, turn your systemrestore on.
