I run a virus check and nothing shows up, but when I run a boot time scan, avast shows infected files but when I click repair, it says it isnt repaired and I have to skip it. Help!
If you could tell us what the detection is we might be able to advise ???
could you attach a screen shot of the scan result ?
Attached is a screen shot of the results of the scan.
Try a run with malware bytes free on full system scan. Your log maybe related to a pup toolbar (bho).
Remove what malware bytes free finds
before you run alwarebytes run AdwCleaner…a special tool for browser/toolbar crap
you find them here with instructions. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
if stll problems tell us
The Repair function essentially only works for true virus infection (small infected part injected into a legit file), looking at the subsequent image you posted none of these are viruses so the repair will do nothing.
There is the fact that two of them are PUPs the Shopping ones:
PUP = Potentially Unwanted Program - See http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid14_gci1066761,00.html. Not included in this definition are tools which can be used for good or evil, some have been legitimately installed for a specifically good purpose, but could have been unknowing installed for a malicious purpose.
Not all antivirus programs scan for PUPs and avast has it turned off by default (an exception being the boot-time scan). So if you get this you have been tweaking the avast settings without knowing what the impact might be.
Presumably you installed a browser helper related to this shopping dofer (toolbar, etc.), now it may well be touted as helping you but it is also likely to gather marketing information, beneficial to the makers of the shopping toolbar.
I hate tool bars as they take up valuable screen space but more so because my comments above, so some would consider that adware/spyware and most likely why it is considered a PUP.
Every time I try to run the AdwCleaner, it stops responding. I restarted my computer and tried again and it stopped responding. What now?
did you run Malwarebytes?..got the log?
ok if you still have problems…see in the same guide how to get a OTL log
attach that and a malware removal specialist will help you
