Which antivirus does avast! report as still being installed?
If it doesn’t,which was installed before avast! ?

Just make sure the previous av you had is completely uninstalled (incl. the registry keys). That should solve the problem.
This anti virus is actually no longer installed on my Pc
But is it completely removed? I don't think so. In fact I am sure that there is still something from it left on your system.
btw, this has been explained in many threads here already. Please use the search option on this board before asking next time.

I have been told that Avast will NOT install its on-line scan if another AV is installed. Is it true??
- Normally I have two AV installed and both work alright. Is there any remedy to what I have said above??

Some av’s do work together, but it is never recommended to have two av’s on one system. There is no need for it either. Some malware disables the av’s, so what good will having two do? No good at all. Better is using one av on the system and as backup 1 or two online scanners.
Having two av’s on 1 system mostly lead to conflicts and may even prevent both from functioning at all, as we have explained many times already on this board.
Gaahak, doesn’t Kaspersky offer a Registry/Lost files cleaner to get rid of traces of it? :

With reference to reply #5.
" And as backup 1 or two online scanners"
- I did not get the essence of the idea?? Will you, please, explain a little more in detail??

i think the idea that eddy and technical are speaking of is to just have the main program of a second antivirus but not two active scanners running side by side. so if avast was second scanner you would de-activate the provider that is normally running constantly.
Yeah…
Better if you can choose not even install the second resident (on-access scanner).
You can have avast resident with AVG, BitDefender (free), AntiVir (free) without their own residents.

@Gaahak: what firewall do you use. Maybe Kaspersky Anti-Hacker ?
There is an issue in this forum where Avast! thinks there is another av (kasp.) but it is in fact the firewall of Kasp.
If not, try to have a look in C Common files, and also in C Documents&Settings where an old map of Kaspersky could be left behind…???
If so, delete this one and do a search for Kaspersky on your hard-drive.
