Recently, I had to do a system restore on my laptop (Windows 7) and it uninstalled a bunch of software programs, including some of Avast. I say “some” because Avast still showed up on my Start menu an I could open it, but it wasn’t running. I had to click on Update in the Uninstall Programs area to install it properly again. Anyway, now when I restart my laptop, Avast is no longer starting automatically like it did before the restore.
I’ve checked the boxes for Avast! Antivirus and Avast! Firewall within the Services in msconfig, but when I try to check the box next to Avast in the Startup tab and click “Apply”, it becomes unchecked again. Therefore, I have to manually start Avast everytime I restart my laptop.
I noticed there was another thread on this topic, but I’m very leery to run a “Repair” because that takes Avast back to its original default settings and I’ve taken a lot of time to create specific schedules for system scans, etc. and get it to work successfully with my MS Outlook setup. I just need to know how to get that checkbox to stay checked in System Configuration > Startup area.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. (I’m running the latest version of Avast! Internet Security.)
