Since yesturday (I believe) my Avast Internet Security (which I just subscribed to on 3/11/12) is & will NOT turn on. In my System Tray, I get the message: “avast! Antivirus: WARNING, your system is UNSECURED.” When I click the avast icon to open it & click “FIX NOW”, UAC comes up, I put in my password, UAC comes up again…Password & AGAIN UAC comes up. What is going on & why will avast not turn on?!?
I even went into Action Center to click “Turn on now”, I then clicked “Yes, I trust…” & then I get the error “File System Shield provider not found”???
What OS ?
Which Avast! version 6, 7.0.xxxx ?
Other security programs install ?
Did you do a Windows restore recently ?
Try to repair Avast!; Programs > Programs and Features > Avast! > Remove/change. It will open a window with the option to repair Avast!. Reboot after repair.
OS: 7 Pro 64Bit SP1
Avast Internet Security: v7.0.1426
Avast is the only security program on machine (w/Windows own built-in Defender & Firewall)
No, I have not done a Restore reciently.
I’ll try doing a repair through Control Panel\Programs\Programs & Features.
Tried to do the repair through Control Panel\Programs\Programs & Features & absolutly NOTHING. UAC comes up, I input password, make my choice (Repair) then I get a grey-boxed graphic stating: “Installation progress” (pic below) & computer just hangs!
