Avast not updating?

My avast is saying there is a new update out, then when I try to update it, it says already up-to date. I have avast! pro.

Information about current update:
Total time: 5 s

Vps: Already up to date
(current version 000768-1)

Windows Alert is saying it is reporting it’s out-of date.

The usual advice here is to check very carefully your system date/time.

It is now the 23/24 day of August (month 8 ) in 2007 for most of us at the time of this posting.

Yeah it wasn’t 12o Clock yet, but I just signed on and it gave me the message again, I have never had problems updating Avast!

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

This has in the past resolved what appears to be an out of sync reported update version/date and what is actually there.
