Avast not using proxy for some things.

Hello,

I am having an issue with Avast 2014.9.0.2021. My firewall blocks all outgoing port 80 traffic which forces users to go through a proxy server. Avast update used to work for me but the latest version is not. The Avast UI is trying to access a website without going through the proxy server. I ran Microsoft Network Monitor and verified that this is the case. See the attached screen shot for details. The AvastSvc process is properly sending traffic to VDATA (the proxy). The AvastUI process, however, is attempting to connect to 74.125.224.72 (a Google ip address??) directly. Why is the UI trying to connect to Google and why is it not using the proxy server as it should? This results in Avast failing to update virus definitions.

Note: VPS updates run via instup.exe.

What exact version of avast?
What firewall?
What os/sp?
Why using a proxy server and which one ?

Avast version: Free version 2014.9.0.2021
Firewall: D-Link Gamer Lounge router
OS: Windows XP and Vista (multiple machines with same issue)
Proxy: Dansguardian with Squid backend for web content filtering.
