avast not working

im trying to help my mother with her avast. she has avast internet security. she called tech support and was told it cost $179 to fix the issue. needless to say she didnt go for it. i have tried everything with the exception of uninstalling it and starting over.

have you tried avast repair?

controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall/change > next popup box has a repair option

tried the repair,it stopped working and didnt load
