Well avast (ashServ.exe is the main scanning engine) just doesn’t start randomly scanning, it only scans activity.
So has anything else changed ?
What sensitivity do you have the Standard Shield on (Normal is the default) ?
Which is the game name?
Which is your operational system?
How much RAM (memory) do you have?
It lags up the whole PC.
OS - Vista 32bit Premium
RAM - 2GB
I think it is because of the shields or on High. I think my mate changed it to high, cos i dont remember touching those bits.
Yes, the best balance between performance and protection is Normal (default).
That would certainly have an impact as it would scan every files opened, rather than only scanning those that are at risk of infection and are executable.
I turned everything on Normal, but it still lags up… =/
Can you check into Standard Shield settings which file is being scanned?
i think its scanning the C and D Drives
You could temporarily turn on the ‘Show detailed info on performed actions’ this option is off by default, this should give you an idea of what is being scanned and what might be accessing these files to cause avast to scan them.
If you identify a common file being scanned then it could be excluded from scans, assuming it is a legitimate file and not something malicious.
