Avast Off, giant pop-up, how to disable?

Hy guys,

Sometimes I want to disable Avast searching/protection, because I download giant games from trustable sources (SWTOR for example),
but than this desktop side layer comes up with a question (Do you really want to turn it off?),
and it’s reaaaally annoying. So I want to disable it. I don’t want to be asked again-again and again.
Specially when my computer is frozing and I can see the windows 8 layers, because the computer is just that slow.

But I don’t know how, and I didn’t find anything in google. Do you guys know how to do that?

There is no need to disable avast and make your system vulnerable to infections if you want to download something.
In fact it is a foolish thing to do.
It is like getting a good security system for your house but not having it active.

Ofcourse avast is asking if you are sure.
You are trying to disable a major part of the protection of your system.
Guess what can happen if you click on “disable the protection” by accident…

Well it uses 40% of my CPU and it really doesn’t matter. If something happens, than hey. Life is cruel.
But I don’t wish to download for 4 hours more because of it. I’m also not loading just something,
and not from just a site.

…and no. That’s pretty much impossible to click on ‘accidentally’. But if such catashtrophe happens,
than hell… I might just turn it right back on. Because in those cases there are no giants pop up layers with questions.
I don’t like it when anti-stupidity methods are forced on me. Also if stupid people don’t make mistakes, where will they learn from?

But seriously I don’t want it. It’s damn annoying.
Is there any way to turn it off?

Well your anti-stupidity remark aside - of course there is a way to stop it - it just takes some finding. Avast is just preventing itself from things trying to stop it (the avast self-defence module). AvastUI > Settings > Troubleshooting and uncheck the option.

Be warned this removes this protection from all of avast not just the shield you want to disable.

I’ll try it out and see how it works.

…and don’t take anti-stupidity too seriously. It’s a saying we use with other webprogrammers.
Probably your guys know the meaning. Many times customers delete entire databases and do ‘stupid’ things,
because they aren’t familiar with computers. That’s what anti-stupidity measures are for.
(Like making delete buttons gray and not red.)
I didn’t mean it as a rude act or the thing as an act against customers,
but like an overprotective field and being safe.

I’m an avast user just like yourself - so - “your guys know the meaning,” I’m sure the avast team do. I have been using avast for eleven and a half years and you wouldn’t believe what some people do (but I’m sure you have similar instances) with what is meant to protect them.

The problem being with over 130+ million users avast have to work to protect those average users. Fortunately avast is very configurable to allow users to customise the setup.
