Avast offline update vpsupd.exe infected and blocked as Win32:Evo-gen [Susp] ?!!

For the past two weeks or so Avast has been randomly blocking the download of its own offline update file as being infected.
sometimes it allows the download… sometimes it nukes it. WTF?! Please get your act together
