avast on ubuntu - no graphical interface

I have installed avast on Ubuntu Dapper but can only run it by typing “avast” in a terminal. I cannot find a start icon in any of the menus. Has any one any ideas?

Also, are there any readme files or manuals? If so, where should I look?

Thanks

“avastgui”

Problem solved - thanks.

Is there any way to add an icon to a menu or do I always have to use the command line?

Rob

You can add a link to your desktop and just choose the command avastgui and the icon that you want. avast has its onw icons stored in the system, but now I’m on Windows and can’t remember exactly the path for the icons on Linux :-[

cd /usr/lib/avast4workstation/share/avast/desktop && sudo ./install-desktop-entries.sh install

These commands will install avast!'s icons&links into the Applications—>Accessories—>avast! Antivirus menu.

That works a treat! Thanks a lot.
