This is correct, the V8 Business Products (including consoles) are currently not compatible with Win 8.1 and as it is closely related with 2012 R2 then the same can be assumed. We have seen cases where there was some success by installing avast V8 after the upgrade to 8.1 and ignoring the compatibility warnings, however we cannot recommend this approach as V8 behavior in this environment can be unpredictable and has not been tested.
We will have to make a new build and release a new installer to fix this. We already have a fix and are testing but it will be at least a few more weeks before it is ready to be released.
