Avast One App PASSWORD NOT ACCEPTED; No option to change/retrieve! Cannot Uninstall

Hello,

SCreenshots and links are not permitted to assist users in this forum…

There is plenty of information about the defunct “Avast Passwords” app but NO info on how to reset or retrieve the Avast One APP password!?!?

I cannot access Settings because the app keeps asking for my password and repeatedly tells me it is wrong when it IS the password that I set up.

Therefore, I am unable to make ANY changes to the program.

This includes uninstalling the Avast One App – and the Avast Clear App DOES INSTALL A SEPARATE OPERATING SYSTEM ON MY WINDOWS 11 laptop; freezes when entering safe mode so I’ve had to restart the laptop several times; and STILL runs the setup that requires the password that I am told is wrong.

I have tried ALL of the steps to uninstall using Avast Clear as well as using Windows 11 cmd (Avast Help: Type cmd (Command Prompt) in the Start menu search bar, then click Run as administrator. Type cd c:\Program Files\Avast Software\Avast\setup\ and hit Enter. Type instup.exe /instop:uninstall /silent and hit Enter.). After changing the Stats.ini file and accessing c:\Program Files\Avast Software\Avast\setup, cmd prompts that the instup.exe is not recognized and/or some other language stating the command cannot be completed.

NONE OF THE SOLUTIONS that I’ve diligently searched for work to uninstall Avast One or access a way to change or retrieve the password to access Settings.

I see NO solutions to reset or retrieve my Avast One PASSWORD – and I am clear that it is different from my Avast Account ID password.

I am using my Windows Administrator Account while attempting all of the above and I am still LOCKED OUT of being able to access Avast One to uninstall it. Yes, I have even tried setting up a new Administrator account and that did not help.

I do not wish to pay $80 USD for 1 PHONE CALL for assistance to release my computer from being held hostage by Avast One. See screenshot “support prices.”

Does anyone know how I can bypass this hostage situation?

Much appreciation for any intelligent tips.

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

You can’t post links as a new user to the community forum.

If you have the image you made saved on your system, you can use either windows file explorer or another file handler to Drag and Drop the image into your post.

There might be some confusion here about your password, you have a password to log into your Avast Account and if you also set a password to protect your user settings then you have two. They aren’t interchangeable.

Thank you, DavidR,

I am using a different browser to respond and I am able to upload screenshots using Firefox. Thanks for inspiring that exploration.

I did say:

Do you have any suggestion on how to RETRIEVE THE AVAST ONE APP PASSWORD – NOT my Avast . com account password?

Happy Weekend.

Screenshot of where the AVAST ONE APP (Windows 11) refuses to accept my password AND offers no way to retrieve whatever password it is deciding can be accepted.

I see NO solutions to reset or retrieve my Avast One PASSWORD – and I am clear that it is different from my Avast Account ID password.

First I have no experience of using Avast One, nor do I use Windows 11, so I have no practical experience here.

As far as I’m aware there is no way to recover your Avast One UI password, short of you having saved it somewhere outside of Avast.

For Avast Antivirus, Free or Premium for windows, I believe this would also be the case for Avast One. The only way around this is to run AvastClear from Safe mode, as trying to uninstall Avast whilst Windows is running would hit the Avast Self Defence module.

Now I don’t know if this option in your last WIN11 screenshot would be running Avast Clear from what would be Windows Safe Mode. If so, that should allow the Avast Clear to run and uninstall Avast whilst it isn’t running.

EDIT:
Ran a search for this and the AI Overview might help here.
