I am experiencing an issue with Avast One regarding the Limited notification mode.
I enabled this mode because I only want to receive important notifications, such as notifications about actual malicious attacks or threats. As I understand it, this mode should block promotional and commercial pop-ups.
However, I am still receiving commercial pop-ups, for example notifications telling me that:
my drivers are out of date;
my device has a “security risk”;
I should use the VPN;
or other Avast features and offers.
These notifications continue to appear even though Limited notification mode is enabled.
Could you please check whether this is a bug in this version of Avast One, or let me know if certain types of commercial notifications are intentionally excluded from Limited notification mode?
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
I use the Avast Antivirus Free product and not Avast One. Both products have slightly different User Interfaces and components.
If you have a paid version of Avast One ?
You should be able to restrict these offers in the Settings as you have don by selecting Limited Mode in Notifications.
That’s undoubtedly the reason, and it’s “normal” from a sale perspective, because the paid versions include an option to disable notifications for Avast products in addition to the third-party product notifications available in the free versions as your.
Note: I use Premium Security, but since the paid version of Avast ONE also uses “Premium Security” as a module, it’s the same setting.

That said, even with the paid version, Avast continues to notify me (more discreetly) about its other paid products.
The difference is that no pop-up opens in the foreground; it’s just a red circle in the interface that you can ignore for the time being.
The other issue is that this ignore option doesn’t last long: it only takes a few days before the notifications come back.
However, when I was using the standalone Avast Free Antivirus edition, before migrating to Avast One, I did not receive any commercial pop-ups while Limited Mode was enabled.
The issue only started after I migrated to the new Avast One
I don’t use the free version of Avast antivirus, so I don’t know if you can also disable notifications for Avast products.
From the link provided by DavidR, it would appear that both options are available in both the paid and free versions.
Unlike the paid Avast ONE version, which includes Premium Security, the free Avast ONE version may not include Avast Free?

I don’t receive any Avast Popups (appearing on screen) in relation to Thorn71’s post.
I also use the Limited Mode, so they don’t popup in your face.
On occasion I get a little dot over my Avast Icon in the Notification Area, relative to your second screenshot. Opening the UI (if I happen to have noticed the Dot) shows what you have in your Notifications. Usually the promotional ads for areas it considers weaknesses.
I just open the UI and delete them. For me it isn’t that frequent to be troublesome.
Not using Avast One Free I can’t speak from personal experience.

My question regarding the use of Avast Free wasn’t so much whether the limited mode was enabled, but whether the tick box for Avast offers (the one highlighted in red in my screenshot:“share app usage …upgrade or our other products.”) was present, or whether there was only the one for third-party offers.
In Thorn71’s screenshot showing the free version of ONE, it isn’t there, whereas in the FAQ for Free/Premium Security, both options are present – for the paid and free versions.
It’s not the red circle on your UI that’s uninteresting, but whether if the two options for disabling offers are present in your Menu > Settings > Notifications > Offers (free version)

OK, in that case, it seems that all users of the free version should receive pop-up notifications in the foreground (rather than small notifications in the red circle under the bell icon), even if limited mode is enabled.
Clearly, the second option – which is only available to paying users – is pointless if restricted mode does the same thing for free users.
Anyway, good for you – or rather, for those using the free version of Avast Antivirus; it seems to be different for the free version of Avast ONE, according to Thorn, who has only been getting pop-ups since switching to ONE…He didn’t get them with Avast Free antivirus either.
That would rather depend on their Pop-Up Notification Treatment settings (if indeed Avast One users have that setting), mine are set to Limited and I’m not seeing that. There is also the Silent mode which has been seen to be not so silent, or as efficient as Limited Mode.
Given that Avast One and Avast Antivirus Product versions having different components and Settings. Not using Avast One I can’t expand on what I have said or crucially test.
No, I don’t think it depends on the settings (whether they’re present or not), but rather that Avast doesn’t handle the user’s preferences in the same way depending on whether they have the legacy version or the new commercial version “Avast ONE”.
Or perhaps it’s a bug that benefits users of the free legacy version?
If Thorn71 is up to it, he should check this by reinstalling the classic free version.
