I receive this error message from Settings>Extensions in Google Chrome Version 48.0.2540.0 dev-m (64-bit):

Given the error, I would suggest that you disable or remove HTTPS Everywhere - and see if that resolves the problem - as that appears to be redirecting a local call to https.

This isn’t an avast issue but one for HTTPS Everywhere. Not to mention you are running an old version of AIS. The latest version is 2015 10.4.2233.
