IE 11 recently started crashing on me every time I tried to start it.

I opened it without add-ons, and it started fine.

I tried disabling different add-ons, and the problem seems to be with avast! Online Security add-on (9.0.2021.112).

Since I usually use Mozilla Firefox as my Web browser, I’m not sure if I’ve used IE since upgrading to avast! Internet Security 2014.9.0.2021.

(I’m running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.)

Hi rlojohnson. Uninstall avast! Online Security add-on via add/remove. Right click avast on add/remove, click change, un-check the features that you want to uninstall and click next. Avast will uninstall the features that you deselected. After avast has done it’s job restart your computer manually.

Thanks.

I just tried uninstalling Browser Protection and reinstalling it, but that didn’t help.

I noticed that IE uses the 64-bit avast! plug-in for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of IE 11, which seems odd since the avast directory has both 32-bit and 64-bit versions available.

I noticed that you, too, are running Windows 7 x64-bit (SP1).
Is your Windows 7 Home Premium?
Do you have both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of IE 11 installed?

Your welcome

I am running only Windows 7x64-bit (SP1) and it is home premium. My IE 11 32-bit version

Note: When you open up IE11 and click on the screw button located at the top right hand corner and click about IE if it doesn’t say 64-bit on the version number then it is 32-bit.

Do you have a screenshot of that fact ?
I run a 64 bit OS and IE doesn’t say 64 bit. ???

here it is bob3160. So this means that running 64-bit OS you get 32-bit IE11 right?
When I had IE10 I can open up IE10 in 64-bit as well. The current one was 32-bit. Opening IE10 in 64-bit opens up a new top across the taskbar? I also was able to go to program files (not program filesx86) click on IE and open the main file of IE10 and I click about IE10 and it showed 64-bit somewhere in IE10 can’t remember where it was shown.

As for IE11 that I have now. If i go to both Program Files and Program Filesx86 and click IE program and I click About it doesn’t show 64-bit of IE11 for both of them.
