Avast Online Security addon blocking weather.com videos

I’m not sure why this happens, but whenever I disable Avast Online Security in Firefox, my weather.com videos will load again. Not sure if it matters, but the version of the addon is listed as 10.2.0.187; as far as I know, that is the latest version. If you need any more info from me, just let me know, but this is a rather annoying issue that I hope can be fixed soon. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
As you can see, no problem here with the videos:

[b]Check your settings in AOS are they the same as these:

My settings are definitely not the same, as I use the Do Not Track options. Does this mean that the problem is actually on weather.com’s end, then? Because I’m not disabling that in Avast, especially not for some videos.

Guess you’ll need to decide what’s important to you. I use uBlock to block the ads.

I am running Avast free on my W8.1 desktop and cannot find the Online Security Settings page. If I have those options, could you tell me how to open that screen?

Click AOS icon on browser. In the window that opens just all the way down you will see Options or you can try this URL chrome://wrc/content/options.html

I do not see Options and am using IE11: Overview, Scan, Tools, Account, Statistics, Settings

Sorry I do not use IE 11, but FF. I can show you an image but it is in Spanish since AOS is geolocation based.

or…

Copy/paste in your browser and go

chrome://wrc/content/options.html

I can’t get it to work. Message pops up looking for app and when I click, none are found.

Clicking wrong icon. Found the correct one. Thank You.

For my situation, W8.1 IE11 Avast free, restoring normal video playback on Weather.com required only unclicking Block Ad Tracking by Default, leaving all other Do Not Track Blocks enabled.

Again thanks to IROC, et al.

Had you tried the suggested settings in the image posted early on, you would long have had the problem solved.
Glad your videos are now back to normal.

You are correct , sir. My problem was I could not find that Avast screen. :-[

You are welcome.

For those using Internet Explorer 11, the icon is in the upper right corner just left of the home button and may be obscured, or use this URL:
avast-resource://addon/templates/settings/options.html

Personally, I am leaving all blocks active and shutting off the ad blocker only when required as it is so easy to disable (4 clicks) and so infrequently needed off.

End of Line

You may want to check out the uBlock extension for your browser.
