Avast! Online Security Extension for Chrome - Slows internet

Hello,

I got Avast I think last year around Memorial day and have been a frequent user of it and been satisfy with the overall product. As of late and the new update I noticed that the extension plugin for Chrome has been somewhat wonky. I noticed it with Twitter, Youtube, and Twitch. Videos have to rebuffer and reload on Twitch and on youtube it takes quite a while to render the actual video on the screen.

So after a while of messing around I noticed that the issue was solved by disabling the Avast! Online Security extension. Now I enjoy the extension alot and would like to be able to use it still just … not with it bringing my internet to an absolute crawl.

Is there a solution or something I can do to have it working to how it was prior the update?

Ps: I don’t even know if it’s update related but I really would like to have my regular internet speed with the protection of Avast! Thank you.

The avast! online security add-on has plenty of issues.

I recommend you disable it until all of it problems are resolved.

It does not affect your protection since the Web Shield scans all HTTP traffic and does the malicious blocking.

WOT (Web of Trust) is a good alternative until all the bugs are [hopefully] ironed out of AOS.

Glad I found this post, I’m having the same issue. Wish avast would send a notice when there stuff isnt working properly.
