Have disabled Avast Online Security addon in Firefox version 26.0
Slows down page loading on same sites, on one particularly web site http://www.majorgeeks.com/ , was taking around 20 seconds to load at cpu usage at 100% .
With Chrome and IE8 no problems with Avast Online Security.

Confirming that as well for Firefox 26.0.

build 2011 doesn’t crash for me but it is very slow to load, probably because MajorGeeks has loads of garbage on their webpage (7 items blcoked by AOS).

Thanks for the info, I didn’t know that I was the only one having the same problem with MajorGeeks and Firefox. I also use AdBlock Plus on Firefox 26.0, seems like that would block all the trash from there but I guess it doesn’t.
Thank you,
Dan

No problem on majorgeeks with firefox 26.0 and the AOS add-on, mind you I use NoScript and RequestPolicy add-ons. But there are a lot of third party connections on the site as you can see from my NoScript and RequestPolicy listings.

I just updated Avast to 9.0.2011 and it fixed Firefox crashing when going to MajorGeeks, but Firefox still hangs for about 5 seconds before the page appears. It works much better, I can deal with the delay, at least it’s not crashing now.
Thanks, I’ll try noscript for Firefox.

Build 2011 doesn’t crash for me either, but takes around 20 seconds to load, at 100% cpu with AOL on. No problems with AOL off.
In ie8 and Chrome, no problems loading page with AOL. This will show my ignorance but how come on the other 2 browsers, loading same garbage but no problems.
I also use NoScript, but don’t use RequestPolicy listings.
