Avast opening SafePrice tab in Chrome

I’ve installed Avast on tons of machines and never had this issue before. When I open Chrome I get the normal blank startup tab and then Avast opens a new tab for their SafePrice Chrome extension.

I have already checked the Chrome settings and startup is set to only open a blank tab, so this is not Chrome remembering the previous tabs that were open or opening a home page tab. This is Avast opening a tab within Chrome to plug their crappy extension.

Any help on how to stop this awful/annoying issue?

Just remove the extension, if that doesn’t work for you, i don’t know, it never happened for me.

Sorry, should’ve been more clear. The extension isn’t installed. Avast is opening the chrome tab to advertise their stupid SafePrice extension and try to get you to download it.

Which version of Avast Antivirus (Free/Premium) do you have installed? Do you perhaps have sync enabled in Chrome?

Has there been a solution for this?
Mine is opening the tab every time I open Chrome and asks me to install the extension. How do I stop it from doing that?
