Avast Outlook Add-in Fails to load

I have a problem with the Avast Outlook Add-in - it fails to load and the only message i can find is that there is a “runtime error” when Outlook attempted to load it. I am not sure how long this has been going on, because this PC belongs to my 85 year-old mother-in-law who doesn’t always report error messages. It is possible that it got disabled the other day due to how long it was taking to load - I believe I saw that error message once. At least since then, I have not been able to force it to load even though it is set to be enabled no matter what.

I am using the Free version of Avast which I completely reinstalled. This is a Windows 7 PC running Outlook 2013.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
