I’m new to the forum, but have been using Avast! for many years.
So if this post is in the wrong place, my apologies.
At the moment I’m looking to renew my license on two different computers. I’d also like to add a third, and upgrade my mobile version to premium at the same time. With all that, I’m considering the addition of Grimefighter on two of the three computers.
What I’m finding is that since these are all separate purchases, there is no opportunity to save money by purchasing a package deal. So it makes purchasing anything more than the basics far less desirable.
The discounted rates on PC protection seem a little disjointed as well.
Using the PC protection as an example;
I can purchase protection for 1year for 1 PC for $39.99 but for only $10 more I can protect 2 more PC’s.
That’s a deal I can buy into. Well worth the extra $10 @ $49.99.
Then I look at the 2 year protection for $99.99 (double the 1 year price) and wonder why I would pay for 2 years in advance at no additional discount.
Grimefighter is another add-on for $34.99 for 1 year on 1 PC.
But in the store window there is no option to increase that to 2 year along with the PC protection, and (I’m assuming) no discount for buying multiple installations.
This price is also for only 1 PC when I’m buying other protection for 3 PC’s. Which (again I’m assuming) means I’d have to buy 3 separate instances at $34.99 each. That’s starting to get pricey for one household.
When it comes to mobile premium protection, I don’t even see an option to add that in my Avast! user CP Store window.
I’d actually have to purchase it from my phone separately. Or perhaps log in through the website directly and try from there.
That’s another $14.99 per phone. We have two in our household, and once again I’m assuming no discount for multiple purchases.
So when all is said and done, I’m looking at nearly $200 per year just for my household.
But more than the price, it’s the disjointed buying experience that I find undesirable. In some respects it doesn’t feel like I’m buying these products from the same company.
Now after re-reading this, I realize it comes off like a bit of a complaint. But that’s not my intention at all.
I’m really just pointing out how the current purchase plans look from the perspective of a long time user of Avast! products.
A total package deal with a better overall price for household use, along with a more unified product offering in the store would go a long way to building confidence and perceived value from the consumer.
Avast! has been on my PC’s for as long as I can remember. You folks have built a top notch product.
Keep up the great work!
