Please note before installation of AVAST Antivirus, the following steps need to be taken care of :-

  1. Un-installation of previous antivirus.
  2. Check Registry for any leftover entries for the previous antivirus (you can use any type Registry Cleaners or AVAST Un-installer for the same).
  3. If the current antivirus includes firewall then disable Windows Firewall before installing AVAST.
  4. Check whether the latest Win XP Service Pack is installed or not.
  5. Some conflicting tools/similar nature of tools will lead to slow performance of AVAST or operating system. In case you are using these tools, please un-install them.
  6. Post installation of AVAST, check for Antivirus Update settings.
