Avast Passive Mode and Win 10 Extend these dislplays

I switch between using 1, or 2, monitors, for normal use / online work
. . . Avast needs to be in Passive Mode for work, so the secure connection software can work

My question is: Why does this happen if you do this, in this order?

1.) Win 10 / right-click Desktop - Display settings
. . . Change it from “Show only one” to “Extend these displays”

2.) Avast / Menu / Settings / Troubleshooting
. . . [check] Enable Passive Mode / Restart

After the Restart, you only see a black screen on both monitors - they say:
. . . “Input signal not found”
. . . “Display Port Inactive”
Power the computer off/on to get the monitors back

However, if you do steps 1 and 2 in reverse, things work as expected.

Hi, I could not reproduce it.
Perhaps you can check your scale and layout settings.
Set the scale to 100% or lower.

I had to do a de-install / re-install of Avast for this other issue I had:

and then I found that I did not have this issue - so, somehow, it has been fixed

11/21/20 I thought this was fixed, but it is not.

From the above post: The Scale is 100% for both

Below is what I tried, my current fix for this, and the hardware / software that I’m using.

11/19/20 I made sure all video / graphics drivers were updated, but this did not fix it. Here’s what you see:

1.) Both monitors on
2.) I put Avast into Passive Mode / Restart
3.) Monitor 2: “No signal”
4.) Monitor 1: “Input signal not found. Check the video cable and video source - Display going to sleep”
5.) Both monitors go into sleep mode
6.) Power to the computer stays on, like nothing is wrong
7.) Nothing wakes up the monitors: Esc / Enter / left-click
8.) You have to power off the computer / on to get it back - this will be starting up Avast in Passive Mode

9.) Power off/on isn’t good for the SSD. I run this:
. . . C:>chkntfs c:
. . . The type of the file system is NTFS.
. . . C: is not dirty.

I noticed, however, if you keep Monitor 2 powered off (while it remains Extended), and you do the above, it does not hang.
I then power on the 2nd monitor.
It looks like this issue has something to do with Monitor 2 being powered on. The driver is from 05/25/11

How do I get it to work, having both monitors on, and putting Avast into Passive Mode?
Maybe making sure all the video drivers are updated?

. . . I saw no change in performance, though, either, so I guess I will keep this driver up-to-date now

I don’t see a more current driver on the AOC site for my Monitor 2, that might fix this.

In fact, I don’t even see the driver from 05/25/11, so I guess I’m out-of-luck.

I wonder how Avast Passive Mode interacts with a powered on Monitor 2.

Ok, did the above, then I tested it.

It worked 1 or 2 times as expected, with the monitor on, then it didn’t.

I ran the support tool right after the time that it didn’t.
