I installed Avast Password Extension when Password Manager was EOL’d. I had it on all of my systems as a Chrome extension. Yesterday it disappeared from every machine and if I go to the Chrome store it no longer shows up. WTF?! Avast has become crap ever since it became associated with Norton… Time to find a non-norton solution, this stuff happens way to often for software that is supposed to protect you and your data.
Hi @mandack, sorry about the experience here and apologies for the delayed reply.
Just to clarify, Avast Password Manager itself wasn’t EOL’d, it was migrated from being built into the Avast app to a standalone browser extension.
The extension is still available and can be installed by following the steps here: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/install-avast-password-manager/
As for why it vanished everywhere at once, honestly, it’s hard to guess. One thing that could cause this is Chrome sync, where removing or disabling an extension in one place can get mirrored to other devices using the same account. This wasn’t something we intentionally triggered on Avast’s side.
