avast, please fix issues caused by new update!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have encountered my second BSOD when using avast. The first time i encountered a blue screen was when i reverted to safezone and it just went to a BSOD. Today, i opened my avast ui and selected sandbox and terminated all sessions. Once i did that, it went to a blue screen and my computer restarted and when it loaded back up, it was very laggy and took 10 minutes for my desktop to load. I did not have any important virtualized process’ running- maybe a browser session and also a process c:\windows\SysWOW64\ctfmon.exe which always appears for some reason in the sandbox.

What is being done to fix this issue with sandbox other than the user having to repair the program? I have also described another sandbox problem in a prior post.

Before im requested to send a minidump file, do these files have any identifying info, ip address system info etc…?

  1. What is your OS, 32 or 64-bit?
  2. What version of Avast did you install? Was this an upgrade or a clean install? Did you do a standard install (if you did an install) or a Custom install?
  3. What product of Avast did you install? Free, Pro, AIS?
  4. What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:
  • Antivirus (AV)
  • Firewall (FW)
  • Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs
  • Other security software

If you had other security software on your machine in the past, how did you uninstall it? The vendor’s uninstall tool or some other way?

  1. Win 7 - 64-bit
  2. 7.0.1456 - it was an update by selecting the update button in the avast UI. About 2 days Prior to this, i had updated the program the same way, I guess the 7.0.1456 was an additional update to fix some issues.
  3. I’ve had AIS for more than 6 months now
  4. In the past: My system came per-installed with another av prog… This was uninstalled a long time ago using the option supplied by the vendor and also checking programs and features to ensure it was removed. Currently I have a paid version of Malwarebytes Pro and run this concurrently with avast AIS. The exclusions have been set and i have never had problems running these together.
