Hi
I’m usint TheBat! as mail-client. There is a plugIn for TB! from Avast. What happens if I do not load the PlugIn?
Thanks for answering and regards

I would have thought that your meal client would be covered by the Internet mail provider if it used the regular ports and protocols covered by the Internet mail provider.
The Internet Mail provider wouldn’t be integrated into the Bat so it couldn’t scan encrypted content/SSL/TLS email, etc. as it is effectively outside the email client and can’t unencrypt to scan content.
Thanks for the info!
Your welcome, I think it would be best using the Bat plug-in would allow for the full use of the Bat’s functionality and integration with avast.
Hallo,
my question:
I’m using thebat vers.3.8x with the avastplugin. And it seems it works.
But: do i have to stop the InternetMail-Provider instead in the Menu?
And how can i be sure, that avast check all my mails?
I see some entry in AvBatEx.log, but I do not understand connections!?
I’m missing an entry in the sourcetext of any in/outgoing mail!?
How i have to configure it, to see if its a examined mail?
Thanks for your answers (links)

If you are using the Bat plug-in then I believe you don’y need the Internet Mail provider running, terminate it (and persist the changes).
Not having the Bat or the plug-in I don’t know what is available, I assume something similar to the Internet Mail provider with a Last Scanned:, Scanned Count:, etc. You could also try to receive the eicar email test, http://www.eicar.com/ or http://www.gfi.com/emailsecuritytest/.
You do not need to turn off the Internet Mail provider. You can turn it off if you do not use any other email client or newsgroup client.
The Bat plugin works differently from the Internet mail provider and does not insert the “clean message” into incoming or outgoing mails. If you want that in your messages then you can turn off the Bat plugin and allow the Internet Mail provider to scan your messages.
The major advantage of the Bat plugin over the Internet Mail provider (as mentioned above) is that it allows email that is being sent/received using a secure connection to also be scanned, that cannot be done by the Internet Mail provider without using a third party product like STunnel.
