Running current version of Avast free on Win 7 x64.

I would like to adjust the popups to only show if if a virus or malware is detected. Currently I have a "scan running"popup showing during an entire scan. Is there a way to disable this short of using game mode?

As has been explained a huge times on this webboard, you can only disable the pop-ups in the paid versions.

This is the one that is annoying. It sits there for the entire scan.
