Avast Possible Blue Screen of Death

I had avast 8 installed and i got a blue screen of death… I downloaded a program called whocrashed and it said it was because of a windows memory problem or something… I uninstalled avast and now the BSDs stopped. Is avast the cause of the blue screen or would you say its because of this messed up acer laptop that turns off on me a lot.

There really is insufficient information to answer the question.

I would suggest that "GB of RAM on win7 64bit OS is somewhat of a limiting factor. Now that and avast running plus all of your other background programs could cumulatively be an issue, removing avast may well

If this is the first BSOD, personally I don’t go chasing them on my system unless it becomes more frequent. I use Blue Screen View and that is fairly good at pinpointing the faulting modules. How frequent were these BSODs ?

If you can copy the whocrashed log so we can see more information, perhaps we can get more information from it.

Whocrashed log and dump files isn’t available now… I did a sys restore out of fear thinking avast damaged the windows file named “ntoskrnl.exe” Last year i had this problem with avast 7 when it got out of beta.
