Avast Premier 2015 & Thunderbird Email Problems

Hi everyone, for the longest time I’ve experienced problems with Thunderbird (Latest Version) and Avast products ranging from Avast Premier, Avast Internet Security and Avast Endpoint Protection Suite Plus.

When I first open Thunderbird I can send and receive emails for about 2 -3 minutes. After that first 2 - 3 minutes I can still occasionally receive messages when I click the “Get Messages” button, but I cannot send messages. I get the SMTP error message and I’ve attached a screen shot to show you.

I’ve added common Domains and Email addresses to the Whitelist in Avast and if I disable the Avast software it works just fine. Basically, each time this occurs which is all day every day, I close Thunderbird and reopen it immediately and it works for 2 minutes before stopping my ability to send emails with the SMTP error. This problem has occurred in all of the versions of Avast listed above and I’ve never found a solution. Also, I keep the Avast definitions and software up to date and am running the most recent version.

Let me know if you have any ideas because this is driving me nuts. Thanks so much for any ideas.

does it work if you turn off outgoing scan ?

also see / search FAQ section https://www.avast.com/en-eu/faq.php?q=thunderbird#searchForm

That may have solved it. Thank you! I’ll repost under this thread if it reverts. I only say that because it’s been sporadic. Thanks again

Well, I’ve added all of the domains and email accounts to the Whitelist but it’s still not working. This has been going on for so long now that I’m just about ready to drop Avast. Does anyone have any more ideas?

Or drop Thunderbird and use Opera ...... or web mail, never problems with that ;)
