2 days ago, Avast Premier firewall started blocking my BTGuard VPN. Now I always have to deactivate my firewall if I want to use my VPN.
I already followed the VPNs FAQ and tried to open the port specified: Protocol GRE (47) and port 1723.
However, i can only do anything about ports in: Tools → Firewall → Settings/Options (I have german version, there its called “Einstellungen”) → package rules (“Paketregeln”).
Problem is for some reason I cannot specifiy local-port, remote port and “ICMP Type” manually. I can only specifiy Name, protocol, direction and adress. In other words, I dont know if the port i wanted to open was actually opened or not, since I could only specifiy the protocol and adress (vpn.btguard.com)…I guess it wasnt, since it didnt work. And i dont know either where else i could open a port in the avast firewall settings?
Maybe I dont need to open the port anyway? Anyone else got experience with this. I was only following the instructions on my VPN providers site. Maybe some of you have dealt with such problems before?
Its quite annoying that I have to turn off my FW if I want to surf anonymously
Hi
Not sure if this will help you, but can you delete all entries in the Firewall pertaining to that program?
It’s been a long long time since I ran Avast Firewall so it’s just a thought.
The firewall should then “ask” when the VPN try to connect.
Hello, avast? This thread was full of replies and now its empty?
There was even a reply from a staff member who said that the issue described above would be solved in “next weeks patch”.
Well, it WAS NOT solved! I still cant connect to my VPN while Firewall is turned on. What the heck is going on, would you please solve the issue or refund me?
Im not even using a special VPN Software, its the integrated windows VPN Service im using! I cant even connect to my goddamn university’s network!
