Avast premier is blocking updates

Avast Premier has been blocking the updates for my Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner.
I have tried sending to the virus lab that it is a false positive and that does nothing. I have marked it as an exclusion and it still blocks it. When scanned the start up update file, the file scans as no threat detected. I am getting near the end of my tether as nothing I try works.
This has got to the point where I can’t use my scanner at all because I have been unable to update. Avast was doing this before I installed windows 10 but with windows 8 I could still use the scanner. Now because I am having to re-install the files due to windows 10 Avast has essentially prevented me from using my scanner.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful.

Thank you but some how the update has just resolved itself on its own. Not entirely sure how as for weeks the update kept being listed as a threat and now all of a sudden it has allowed it. I am a bit baffled to be honest.

i suspect what you did see was a new file warning … if so, there is a droppdown menu at the bottom of the popup where you select what action you want avast to take
