avast premier kills sounds on my thinkpad X230

hello
i installed avast premier on my X230, before installing sound was ok,
after I install avast premier the sound is gone, I mean from any source, youtube, and from files on my laptop.
if I de-install, sound comes back, after I re-install it goes off again.
Note: when windows starts the windows start sounds are ok, after it gets to the desktop and avast starts every sound is gone.
all drivers are the latest, on a fresh win 7 pro sp1 install with all updates done

this is quite frustrating , please help

The same thing happened to me on my windows 10 PC. No one would believe that Avast could mess up the sound but it did. One of my neighbors works on computers and he fixed my PC so now the sound works.

can you share with us how he fixed the issue?

He had to install a new driver.

well, tahs not really halpfull, since I already have the newest driver installed

Reported to Avast.

@TinkerMan

I was wrong about how I got my sound back. He used the Configurartion Editor Now my sound was too loud so I had to turn it down.

how exactly did he do it?

Type what he used in search in bottom left of your screen and you should find it

Open the Control panel then Sound

I tried doing it that way several times but it didn’t change the sound. My sound is in my monitor.

Hopefully that will work for him.

EDIT
Added a sentence

Where the sound comes from doesn’t matter as long as it’s properly selected in the settings.

I know that. He should use what I posted.

Here’s what you suggested:

Now all you need to do is give specific instructions as to what was changed to give you back your sound.

If, your Windows Audio under Services was unchecked, that could be the
reason why you had no sound. If your problem was no sound.
It would however, not make the sound lower.

the control panel and sound thing, didnt change anything, still no sound

That’s not what I

That’s not what I suggested

Please install Equalizer APO

discovered something new
if I restart the computer, no sound, if I put it to sleep, on wake, I have sound, albeit with some glitches, but if I turn it off, or if I restart again, I get no sound, put it to sleep, gets the sound back.

this is quite the mistery

Why in the world would I install a third party program that I know nothing about.
Maybe that’s what killed your sound ???
