Avast Premier-Zero Connected

This is a Toshiba laptop (windows 7) and for some reason, suddenly, after installing Avast, there are NO wireless networks available. I don’t know what is going on, but it looks like it’s a mess here. I see another connection made here in the network adapters, called Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport. Which is making me guess that Avast wants me to use their wifi connection somewhere.

So, my question is here… how the hell do I get this reconnected once again? I’m more than likely gong to uninstall this for the time being. Having zero internet isn’t why I got this laptop.

Thanks, Rob

what AV did you use before installing avast? … did it come with a preinstalled trail AV like Norton / McAfee / TrendMicro ?
did you uninstall it before installing avast?
did you run the vendors removal tool to clear any leftover files that may conflict?

tools found here, run and reboot. http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

I ran AVG Internet Security. Guess it’s time for system restore?

Ok, connection via cat 5 works, downloading now, going to try again.

Thanks for the fast reply, this is upsetting to say the least.

-Rob

have you run AVG removal tool … see link i gave you

Yes, I did, still no wifi networks available. and, there’s this second one that just arrived called Microsoft Virtual WIFI adapter.

-Rob

run OTL and, attach OTL diagnostic log … not copy and paste http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

The software locks at scanning firefox settings, been sitting there for over 5 minutes. (not responding)

-Rob

give it more time…

If OTL is hanging on Firefox then that generally means there is a corrupt setting there
What error do you get when you try to connect ?
