I’m trying to track down what’s causing my problem with PHPMyAdmin, I’m trying to add a table column type in a database but the dropdown under type is taking awhile to respond, could Avast be causing this problem as it’s very annoying when I need to create table columns in MySQL and it won’t let me?

Easy test, does it work when you disable Avast…?
If I click “Avast Shield Control” disable for 10 minutes, it still does it. can’t see what else it could be - could it be Windows 10 64bit?
Whilst I don’t use PHPMyAdmin or MySQL, so I can’t speak from personal experience.
This could take a long time if the table is quite large as everything would have to be reordered, etc.
Has this taken a long time before or this the first time and or is this the first time adding a new column ?
So I did a search on ‘create table columns in mysql takes a long time’ and that returns an enormous amount of hits so it seems a common experience.

Hi, it’s a new database and new column. Thanks will have a look on the search you did and reply back.
You’re welcome, though if this is a new database with no data it shouldn’t take long, but if populated that would be different.
It’s not so much creating columns its selecting the column type (dropdown) does not let me select the items inside it EG (INT, VARCHAR…)
