Today when I updated my computers and others, Avast Premium Security breaks network shares.
Network shares by Name or IP address fail to connect after upgrading Avast PS to version 24.2.6104 (build 24.2.8904.819).
The only way to fix the problem is to turn off “Enable Samba Protection”
Please fix this MAJOR BUG!
Duplicated on 20 computers >:(
Not interested, maybe Avast should do a better job testing the new releases first!
Every computer that has the update and is on a network has been broken by Avast…
Not talking about just my network…
I agree, the team is trying to solve your problem, what matters is that you send what was requested, so that the team can check the specific problem on your machine and resolve it in an update.
Remembering that software is always evolving.
It’s all right, we’ll figure it out eventually - it would just be faster with the logs. So far we haven’t been able to induce the issue in any testing environment.
We understand the team regarding this, as this problem already has some other people commenting after updating to the new version and starting to experience these problems.
Unfortunately, not everyone is here to help or facilitate the matter, as this is a community where everyone helps.
Hugs and great work on this BUG.
It’s very difficult to understand the Kalman Team wanting to solve his problem quickly, he’s been saying that it doesn’t matter, I thought it was a little difficult for someone to want to help.
Reading this message, I’ve just seen that I too no longer have access to sharing on my local network (impossible access)
I don’t know if this is related to version 25.2 but seeing that there are 2 posts on this subject, it seems logical to me to go further.
I should point out that disabling samba protection does not solve the problem.
What’s more, there’s nowhere in the avast reports (remote access or firewall) to indicate that access has been blocked or even authorised (see capture for last access on 3 March).
So I’m going to send the file so that avast can locate the problem as quickly as possible ;D
EDIT:
Sorry, but the generation of my support file has been running on a loop for 10 minutes without anything happening …
nothing has gone right since this update :(, even if I’m not sure it’s the reason for all the problems.
I’ll try again later
I also noticed - still with this version - that the various scans were slow to start (blocked at 0% for 2 or 3 minutes).
The smartscan, for example, performs the 1st scan (obsolete apps) quickly but blocks at 33% when the virus scan is supposed to start.
Thank you avast team, we will be waiting for the correction, if possible, inform in this topic the correction for those who have not updated to version 24.2, you can update calmly so as not to suffer from these problems.
Yes, as I said above, the analyses are launched after 2 or 3 minutes, including the smartscan after 33%.
W7 SP1 Pro
edit:
I’d like to add, because it may be linked to the sharing problem on the local network, that since the update I’ve also had several notifications of new devices detected on the local (private) network, including my box.
As I said W7 SP1
however, my 2 other devices on W10 22H2 also block access to the network.
As for the slow start-up scans, it’s there too, even if it seems faster (scan starts after 1 minute).
