Avast Premium Security (Mail Shield)

Avast Premium Security
Program Version 22.8.6030 (build 22.8.7500.734)
APS Mail Shield is blocking Mailwasher Pro (Firetrust.com) from receiving G-mail emails.
Previous versions of APS did not cause this issue.

Is there a way to add an exception into APS mail shield?
I have an exception and allowed app entry for MWP but that does not help.

Hello,

today we released a new beta version that should fix all the connection problems. Would you please be so kind and try the beta and check whether you can successfully send/receive mail messages?

Thanks in advance,
HK

Wouldn’t it be better to issue an emergency update if the fix is known, rather than ask users to switch to a beta version ???

HK:
The beta did resolve the issue with Mailwasher Pro and Gmail.
Will I move from Avast beta automatically when the next release is out?
If not how do I make sure I’m out of beta

No. You need to do a total removal and clean install if you want to switch back to the stable release.
One of the reasons I don’t recommend using the beta unless you intend to stay as a beta tester.

I use Mailwasher Pro but not with Gmail as I prefer to use my browser for Gmail or you could be getting a lot of Spam being downloaded in the preliminary checks.

Also a little while ago I got an email from Mailwasher Pro about how to configure Mailwasher Pro to get Gmail, so I don’t know if this could be part of the problem.

That will throw up a browser notice about HTTP and not HTTPS connection, if you go past this it will download a gmail.pdf file

Would be nice if you mentioned that you do not have a smooth method to move from beta to release version like the rest of the world does.
When will the fix be released to resolve the bugs with Mailwasher Pro?

DavidR:
Was in touch with Mailwasher support before I came to Avast for help.
Nothing Mailwasher support suggested worked.

It was just a thought.
However have you done what was suggested about not being able to use your Gmail password in MailWasher Pro and having to create a dedicated App Password for using Mailwasher (in my previous image) ?

DavidR
If I didn’t use an App specific password it would of stopped working months ago.

As I said, it was just a thought as you hadn’t specifically said you had done that.

Avast fixed this a week ago with 22.8.6030 (build 22.8.7500.748)
