Avast Premium Security more expensive for members than for newcomers !

Hello !
My subscription to Avast premium Security is over. I was giving a look to the website for a renewal. I discovered that when I try to renew as a newcomer (without loging in), the price is 39,99 €, while if I log in, the price is 49,99 €. How come ?

Simple answer. They are trying to lure new suckers in, and hope that the existing suckers will not notice the difference

Hi,

We may offer discounts at times. This offer applies only to the first subscription period, after which you are charged full price. This is mentioned during the order process. Please see the FAQ page here: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Sale-Billing-FAQ/#idt_0510

Not much incentive to use the Auto Payment renewal option then !!!
The sales billing FAQ might be correct, but who looks at that (or can find it) when purchasing.

Whilst I wouldn’t expect the same discount on renewal even a smaller discount for existing customers is better than nothing.

As an Avast Free user this doesn’t effect me, but treating existing paid product users this way is hardly an incentive to continue.

This is why I would always advise users NOT to use the Auto Payment renewal as:
A. They are likely to get an offer near renewal time in the UI to renew.
B. They can always check the Avast site and see what discount they might get.
C. Or even do a search for the best price for the product they have. Taking care that an offer that looks to be too good to be true often is.

It would be nice if Avast became the exception to this rule of making the existing customer pay more thana new user.

They used to be the exception, if memory serves me well there used to be an auto renewal discount, about 13% if memory serves me well.

Your memory is as good as mine. Lot’s of things have changed. Some for the better, …

I asked the same thing and someone linked the different options and it was cheaper. So I saved the link so when it got closer I’d just renew that way. But today I got a popup and it was $10 (US$) less then the links. So instead of $89.99 on the pop up, or $49.99 at the links someone provided me, what came up today in an email was $39.99 (US$).

So check your email tied to Avast and if it isn’t there give it time.

That said, anyone know where and how to turn off auto pay? I’ve check my account, my subscription and I can’t fine how or where to turn it off. I’m currently looking for how and where to in the forums. Thanks in advance.

It’s been a long time but from what I remember, it’s there when you first do the installation. You need to reject the auto renewal option.

Hope this FAQ helps:
