Avast Premium Security not allowing Outlook 2013 to send or receive emails

A friend’s laptop does not allow Outlook 2013 to send or receive emails. This started a couple of days ago. After much fault finding I discovered that disabling Avast shields control allowed Outlook to work correctly. Enabling Avast shields caused the problem to recur. The email address is a Yahoo.co.uk address. I have tried several changed to the shields and set Outlook 2013 as an ‘allowed’ app, but none have been successful. Before I disable Avast permamnenelty and cancel my subscription, can anyone help?

Maybe try this.
In Outlook, is the Avast add-in “Active”?
Check
Outlook>Files>Options>Add-ins

If Avast add-in is listed in the “disabled” list, go to bottom of that screen “Manage” [disabled …] from dropdown.
