Automatic updates never happen, even though they’re turned on. If I try to turn on notifications for available updates, I never get any notifications.I have to check for updates and run them manually. Why is that?
Same here, been doing it for years and still no explanation as it works for some but not all.

I had this issue many years ago when it was “Internet security”.
I found my proxy setting was ticked; I unticked it did a PC restart and updates resumed.
Attached is my settings on both my win10 and 11 PCs.
You may have to go to support, (which is usually a struggle) and put in a ticket.
And, generate a report.
It will probably something minor causing the issue

I wonder if you changed setting to “Remind me…” then back to “Automatically update…” it would fix anything.
Another option may be Repair Avast via Menu>Troubleshooting> [Repair App]

I have the same issue. I have it set for remind me when an update is available but I don’t get notifications. I recall some years ago with an earlier version of Avast that I did get notifications in the Avast taskbar dropdown. And yes, Avast support’s answer was update manually and it “will be good”. Of course it isn’t.
proxy defo unticked and set to auto update and not updated in years.
i now check every few days and must have had 5-7 this year alone sitting there in red waiting for me to maually click update.
