My computer runs on Windows Vista and I use Windows Mail to manage e-mail. For the last few days, I have been forced to desactivate Avast agents every time I want to send an e-mail. Can someone assist me with this problem out there?
This is what I get for error:
An unknown error has occurred. Subject ‘test 7’, Account: ‘pophm.sympatico.ca’, Server: ‘smtphm.sympatico.ca’, Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: ‘421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 65.55.172.251 (65.55.172.251:25), connect error 10060’, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67
Many thanks David,
the link you provided to me helped me to find the solution.
In this life we are to some extend all alone but since internet entered into our lives, being connected to so many people that we’ll never know and available to give you free assistance, sure make a difference in my conception of society now.
I have a different problem with email and wish to address it here. I don’t use Avast email scanner and periodically get a message alert from Avast. It reads:
"avast! has detected a secure connection from your mail program (process POPPeeper.exe) to the POP server 173.194.75.109 (173.194.75.109).
This type of connection cannot be checked for viruses. Please disable SSL/TLS in your mail client so that the Mail Scanner can scan your mail. The Mail Scanner will provide the SSL/TLS security itself."
I tried doing this a long time ago and allow avast to check my email. It worked for about 1 day then both my email programs (Thunderbird and POPPeeper which I use to check for messages stopped working and I had to go back to not running the avast Mail scanner. My ISP has a built in scanner and all mail is scanned before it gets to me thus “no need” for the avast Mail scanner to function. My email would not run at all with the SSL/TLS disabled in my client.
