Newbie here…please forgive my posting mistakes. Has anyone seen Avast block the internet connection via wired Ethernet adapter? Reading a Windows forum (I need a cocktail now!) one post said to install any antivirus software…restart and reinstall. I have had nothing but great performance from my Avast protection, so looking for some feedback from the experienced users out there. My Dell XPS14Z was Win7 and updated to Win10 with all current updates. I am running licensed Avast Free with all current updates.
I’ve been experiencing a loss in internet connection on my pc now for a few weeks, while I’m able to connect with my phone and tablet.
After an extensive search I found a thread which suggested to change some settings in BitDefender or uninstall your anti-virus and reinstall. I uninstalled avast, but I still had the same problem: Windows shows internet connection working, but can’t access the internet. I then went to Windows Firewall advanced settings and noted that “Inbound connections” were blocked on Domain, Private and Public profiles. I changed it to allow and now I can access my internet again.
I will now install avast again and hope that it will work.
