Avast preventing Outlook 2016 from sending and receiving emails

I have been using Avast with Outlook 2016 without any problem until Friday 11th August when Windows did an update on my computer, after which my emails stopped. On googling my problem I read that if you disable Mail Shield then Outlook will work. I tried this and my emails all came in from Gmail as soon as I turn Mail Shield on again Outlook stops working. Does anyone know of a solution for this problem. I don’t want to turn off Mail Shield.

Same problem over here. Outlook only works when you disable tje email shield. It seems to me that Avast does not care…
