So, I’m trying to delete a leftover file from a program I no longer use, but Avast somehow keeps it open… When i’m trying to delete the file the error says:
The action can’t be completed because the file is open in avast! Antivirus
Close the file and try again.
I’ve tried disabling avast shields and closing it through task manager with no success.
First of all thank you for the reply and i mean no disrespect but I don’t see how the file name has any relevance but this is it: “nimdnsNSP.dll” . It’s a file from a circuit designing program named Multisim. It’s located on my second drive D:/ and it’s the only file left in a folder named: “mDNS Responder”
P.S. My reply may come out as passive aggressive, sorry but that’s not the case. I’m thankful that you took time out of your day to show interest in helping me I’m not a native English speaker.
If the file was being analyzed by Avast and not released, a simple reboot may also work to release it.
I asked for the file name to make sure we were not talking a file protected by Avast’s self defense module.
So, It turns out that avast had nothing to do with it. It just chose a random program for the system tray to blame for “keeping it open”. File is gone thank you guys for your time
Not the first time Avast has been blamed for something it has nothing to do with.
By now, I’m sure Avast has pretty broad shoulders.
Glad you found the problem.
