No matter how many times I set the scan schedule - Avast has a mind of it’s own. It frequently comes on and begins scanning. All I can do is hit the “stop” button. Then it ask if I want to restart computer.
This problem is getting really annoying.
I submitted a ticket with Tech Support but 5 days later…no response. This isn’t the first time I’ve gotten no response.

Have you tried a reinstall? Remove with avast removal tool reboot and reinstall
Mentioning the os/sp, the exact avast version and if you have (or had) other security (related) software installed can also help.
I haven’t tried re-installing.
I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Avast Pro 2015 Antivirus is the product. Is there some other version information needed?
When the box pops up that a scan is beginning…and I click “end”. The box disappears. HOWEVER, if I immediately open the interface it shows that it’s scanning…despite my selecting to “end” scan. It continues to scan no matter what I do to stop it.
It starts scanning several times a day. I click on pause…and it will. But if I click to end the scan…it acknowledges my selection but it will scan anyway.
